Snail Mail
Want to get in contact with me?
My new address is:
Molly [my last name]
Paraguari, Paraguari
Paraguay 4000
South America
While this address seems to contain entirely too little information, it has been used with much success by other volunteers (One got a letter in 3 days!).
A Few Warnings:
1. Sending packages to Paraguay can be pricey, I would thoroughly enjoy a good old-fashioned letter!
2. If you decide to send a package I’ve heard the best route is through the U.S. Postal Service, your best bet may be using a flat rate international shipping box. Package the contents in plastic bags that you wrap with some masking tape (making it difficult for things to easily disappear). Remove any tags or packaging that make something appear new.
3. Make the address visible on at least 2 sides of the box.
4. When filling out the value for the items in the box on the customs form less=better. NEVER exceed $100, but I’ve heard to avoid listing over $20 as a best case practice.
5. I’ve also heard that religious packages don’t get opened, so writing “God Bless You,” etc. can be a good idea.
I truly love any kind of mail, and I will do my best to respond with a postcard from Paraguay! Let me know if you have any questions.
