Pão means bread in Portuguese.
I discovered a bakery in the Sao Paulo bus station called Eu Amo Pão, or I Love Bread. I’m sure my family is reading this thinking, “Wow, Molly, you finally discovered your ideal store.” I Love Bread[!] pretty much sums up my feelings towards carbohydrates.
When we got to Rio, where we spent most of our time laying on the beach, we thought we should hit up at least one tourist attraction, so we picked Pão de Açúcar, or Sugarloaf Mountain. [view from the top; you can faintly see the 130 foot tall Christ statue on the mountain top in the distance]
And this is not related to bread [besides the fact that I will probably be eating lots of it while traveling], but this weekend I have a 5 day weekend! In Brazil they plan all of their holidays on Thursday or Tuesday so that they can also take Friday or Monday off, and on Wednesday it’s a local holiday. Shazaam!
I’m headed to Foz de Iguaçu, or Iguazu Falls, this weekend!
